Overwhelmed at Christmas ?

December Can Feel Overwhelming

December often comes with a flurry of extra responsibilities—practical tasks, social events, and emotional challenges. You may find yourself navigating family dynamics while planning “the big day” and figuring out where everyone gathers for meals. On top of that, the season brings added demands on your time and finances, with crowded spaces and heightened noise levels.

For those of us who are more sensitive, it’s easy to feel like we’re nearing a Seasonal Burnout. But here are some ideas to help you stay grounded and enjoy the season:

Remember, It’s a Season, Not a Day

We tend to place so much emphasis on Christmas Day that we forget the entire season is an opportunity to celebrate. Spreading out your time and energy across Christmas Eve, Boxing Day, and even the quieter days of Twixmas can help you recharge. These moments are perfect for relaxing, having fun, or taking time to yourself.

Everything doesn’t need to fit into a single 24-hour period.

Protect Your Energy

If you’re sensitive to energy, maintaining your balance is crucial:

Create an Energy Bubble

Visualize yourself surrounded by a protective bubble of energy. You can enhance this with whatever feels right—filling it with love, angelic energy, or light.

Cut Energy Cords

After being around others, release any lingering energy connections by imagining cords being gently cut. You might also try a salt bath to cleanse your energy or ask Archangel Michael to help remove cords that no longer serve you. The simple intention of “releasing all cords that do not serve me” is powerful.

Clear Your Space

After hosting people or spending time in busy environments, clear the energy of your home. You can visualize it filled with white light, call on St. Germain’s Violet Flame, use sage or incense, or play music designed to cleanse spaces.

Set Healthy Boundaries

This year, your Christmas might look different—and that’s perfectly okay. Whether it’s breaking with tradition or creating a new way of celebrating, you have permission to prioritize what feels right for you.

You can politely decline invitations or requests with kindness and grace, and you don’t owe anyone an explanation. A simple “This feels right for me” is enough. How others respond to your choices is their responsibility, not yours.

Prioritize Down Time

Amid the hustle and bustle, make space for moments of stillness. Whether it’s a walk in nature, reading, meditating, or taking a nap, having alone time can prevent exhaustion.

This isn’t selfish—it’s actually thoughtful. When you’re rested and centered, you’ll be more present and calm around others, which benefits everyone.

If you need help finding relaxation, I have calming tracks on my YouTube channel that might support you. I love using them as background music to stay grounded while working or unwinding.

Thoughtful Gift Giving

In today’s world of excess, conscious gifting can be more meaningful than ever. Whether it’s a handmade item or a gift of your time, these gestures often have a deeper impact than store-bought presents.

For example, you could offer to help someone with tasks like dog walking, ironing, or school runs, presenting it as a thoughtful voucher. Alternatively, consider supporting a local business or someone self-employed instead of a big retailer.

By gifting with intention, you’ll feel more connected to the spirit of giving—and your recipient will, too.

With these ideas, I hope you can enjoy the season in a way that feels fulfilling and balanced. Remember, taking care of your own energy isn’t just good for you—it allows you to give more meaningfully to others.
